This programme is designed for anyone interested in crime and learning more about crime detection through the use of scientific investigative techniques.

Objectives

The aim of this self-study course is to provide a comprehensive guide to crime detection and examines in detail a range of techniques used for scientific evaluation of evidence.

This is an ideal course for anyone wishing to improve their knowledge of crime investigation and crime detection.

Description

The course is designed for home study or distance learning and is comprised of comprehensive printed course notes presented in an A4 ring binder, together with course assignments and study guide. Tutor support and a student helpline facility are integral to the course, and students have a full 12 months in which to complete their studies. Actual study time will be of the order of 90-100 hours.

The course is divided up into five study units, each with one tutor marked assignment to be completed. Each assignment contains approx 8-10 written tasks to be completed which are then submitted to a subject tutor for marking. Where required assignments can be re-submitted after amendment in the event that the assessment standards are not full met on first submission

Are your level 1 forensic science courses classed as full time education, as the same as a college Thanks

Our distance learning courses cannot qualify as full time study becuase that would require a minimum 16 hours attendance at a place of learning, whereas this is flexible learning carried out at home.

On completio of the course you will receive certification at level 3 for the course learning outcomes which demonstrates achievement of the course aims.You can use the certificate towards meeting the educational requirements for studying other qualifications and/or for employers' job requirements. The certification will help in a varity of roles associated with police work, but primarily towards further study in the field of criminology or forensic science.
